Get the app

Download the latest version of the National Bank app, as well as Google Wallet™ if you're using an Android device. On Apple devices, the Wallet app (Apple Pay) is already installed by default.

Add your cards

Open your Google Wallet™, or Wallet app if you use Apple Pay, and follow the steps to add a new card. For more information on how to add cards, see the FAQ.

Pay in a flash

For in-store purchases, look for the contactless payment logo at the cash. Pay by unlocking your screen and holding your phone near the terminal. To pay online or via an app, simply look for the Apple Pay or Google Pay* button.

*The purchase limit per transaction is $250 for debit cards and credit cards.

How to use mobile payment with my debit card

Add your debit card to your mobile payment app

  • Open your mobile payment app.
  • Manually select and add your card.
  • Enter the name of the cardholder and the 19-digit card number.
  • Enter the verification code received by email to confirm the addition of your card.
  • You’re now set up to make purchases with your phone!

To pay:

  • Unlock your phone.
  • Open the app and select your card.
  • Place your phone near the payment terminal and wait for confirmation.

  • Tap Wallet & Apple Pay and select Add a Credit or Debit Card
  • Follow the instructions to add your National Bank debit or credit card

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Wallet & Apple Pay and select Add a Credit or Debit Card
  • Follow the instructions to add the card

MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

  • Open the Wallet app
  • Tap the + at the top of the screen
  • Follow the instructions

Apple Pay isn't only for iPhone. You can pay with your other Apple devices as well.

Paying in stores and making in-app purchases

  • iPhone: iPhone 6 or later
  • Apple Watch: Apple Watch (first generation), Apple Watch Series 1 and 2, with an iPhone 5 or later

Making in-app purchases

  • iPad: iPad Pro, iPad (fifth generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3
  • MacBook Pro: Models with Touch Bar

Confidentiality

Apple Pay

  • Apple Pay uses a device-specific number and a unique transaction code
  • Your credit and debit card numbers are not saved in Apple Pay or on a server
  • When you pay in-store, your information is never provided to the merchant during the checkout process. If you pay online or via an application, the merchant receives only the information necessary to process your order and for which you have authorized transmission (name, email, mailing and billing address) 
  • Apple Pay does not save any information that could be used to identify you

Google Pay

  • Google Pay has a security guarantee
  • Instead of your actual credit or debit card number, it uses a virtual account number
  • This information isn't stored in your phone, so it can't be accessed through the app

Security features

  • With both Google Pay and Apple Pay, purchases are limited to $250 or less for debit and credit transactions. The mobile payment limit may vary in some stores. 
  • For purchases beyond the mobile payment limits, you'll need to use your debit or credit card. 
  • Apple Pay requires the addition of a password to lock your device, while Google Pay requires a password based on the transaction amount, device, and most recent use of the device.
