Dear clients,
Over the past few weeks, and particularly these last few hours, many of you have expressed your concerns regarding the tariffs being imposed by the United States. Just like you, I am struggling to understand these measures. Not only are they threatening Canadian businesses, they are also upsetting our economic equilibrium.
History has shown us that Canada and the United States prosper when they work together. Our economies are closely tied: thousands of businesses and workers on both sides of the border depend on this unique relationship. Imposing these kinds of tariffs is detrimental to businesses in both countries.
As I have said in the past, although the current situation seems worrisome, it is not insurmountable.
We must be resilient and pragmatic. Rather than allowing this situation to set us back, we must strengthen our competitive advantages, build on our economic strengths and adapt our strategies.
Many of you have brought up the urgent need to reduce regulatory and tax burdens, remove barriers to interprovincial trade and eliminate obstacles that slow down our businesses. I've already expressed these messages in the public sphere and to our decision-makers, and I will continue to do so.
Rest assured that we are monitoring the situation very closely and that we are doing everything we can to support you. Our teams are committed to offering you the assistance you need.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any questions or to discuss the strategies to adopt in this new context.
We're here for you.
